Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy

What is emdr?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is like giving your brain the tools it needs to finish a job it never got to complete. When something distressing happens, the memory can get “stuck,” leading to emotional or physical distress that lingers long after the event. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements) to help the brain reprocess those memories, so they no longer feel so charged in the present.

While EMDR can be a powerful and transformative tool, especially for shock trauma, healing deeper developmental wounds often requires a slower, more layered approach. That’s where thoughtful pacing and an individualized plan make all the difference.
